I'm not sure there is one among us who hasn't felt the alure
of the red bullseye and walked out with twice as much as we went in the store
for. Even with all those extra goodies in your cart there are ways to maximize
your savings.
You will probably love shopping at Target even more once you learn these tricks to save even more money when you shop there. Ready to learn how to keep more money in your pocket and budget!?
Bring Your Own Bags
Don’t forget your reusable bags! When you shop at Target, you
get a 5-cent discount off your total for each reusable bag you use. Good for
your wallet and for the environment!
Always check Target Circle
Before I head out to the store, I always make sure to check the
Target Circle app. It will show you all of the deals that you can add. Sort by what
you need or search within the listing. It’s very user friendly.
As I make my list I always try to search for coupons to add.
There are both Target and manufacturer coupons in the Circle app. You’ll also
see special deals just for you. Like this month it gave an extra 5% to
celebrate my birthday!
One thing I really appreciate is how you can easily see what
products are attached to which deal.
Coupon & deal stack
This is one of my absolute favorite things about shopping at
Target. Being in a large metro area we don’t have many places that double
coupon so I appreciate that I can stack coupons at Target. If you have a Target
coupon or deal you can combine it with a manufacturer coupon.
For me this is great for items like Tide or Cascade where
the manufacturer coupon isn’t very high. I’ll even wait to buy a couple of these
items when there is a good coupon stack. The deal gets even better when you
have the extra percentage off coupons like I had with the birthday deal.
Combine Target deals with deal apps
Ibotta
and Shopkick are always a
go to for Target shopping trips. I don’t ever buy stuff to get the money back,
but I do check to see if anything on my list or items we really like get points
back through either of these apps.
Also, with Shopkick Target usually has a number of items to
scan and get points. If I’m in a hurry I don’t take the time to walk around and
scan. When I have time and to get in more steps I’ll take some extra time and
get those points though!
Shop holiday and end-of-season clearance
I don’t know if there is anyone who doesn’t love the
clearance endcaps at Target! This is an easy way to save big. This is
always the items that didn’t sell during the holiday season and now are steeply
marked down to get it out of the store.
Discounts will start immediately after the holiday or season
has ended, with increased markdowns every few days or so. The longer you
wait the bigger the discounts, but also the less chance of items still being available.
I always go to check for treats and things like wrapping paper or other paper
goods.
Target price match policy
If you purchase an item at Target and find it later for a
cheaper price at Target.com, in a local competitor’s print ad, in Target’s print
ad, or one of a select number of online competitors, Target
will adjust your price to the lower price.
Price matches can be completed at any lane in-store or the
customer service desk. I personally prefer to go to the customer service desk.
Target will match prices for several popular
online retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Kohls, Walgreens, and Wayfair.
Get gift cards
Keep an eye out for special offers that include free Target
gift cards. These are usually through buying personal care, baby, household items.
These cards are earned by spending a certain amount on products from a specific
brand or within a specific category.
Example from this past weekend was buy four personal care or
hair items and get a $5 gift card. Or I’ve seen spend $40 on household items
and get a $10 gift card. Pay attention around Black Friday I have seen slightly
higher gift cards around this time in the past.
The Top Deals page on
Target’s website will show you all the current deals including the current free
gift card promotions.
