6 Ways to Recharge in the New Year

New beginnings are great. I find that I especially like the start of a new year. Everyone seems to wipe the slate clean and start with new vigor. Everyone wants to work on recharging themselves and have a better year than the last one.

1. Set short and long term goals

What’s on the cards for you in 2020? Setting goals can give you long term vision along with short term motivation. It doesn't have to be some lofty high goal it can be as simple as eat one more piece of fruit a day. Taking some time to set new goals will help to refocus on your priorities and make sure you're focusing on things that only inspire happiness.

2. New planner or calendar

I don't know about anyone else but the idea of a brand new planner or notebook is super satisfying. Over the past couple of years I've become more of a digital planner person. Whether you're a digital planner or a paper planner type person it's time to get a new one and start the new year on a blank page. I love starting a new to do notebook too. There is just something about that completely clean blank book. It's just one of those stupid adult things I enjoy.

3. Simplify your life

Last week I shared 9 different ways to simplify in 2020. Simplifying can recharge and take away stress for sure.

4. Focus on the important relationships

I think a lot of us a certain points throughout the year we realize we've become a hermit or so focused on a certain thing we're working on we haven't seen our friends or family in a while. I can't be the only one right? Refocusing on the important family and friend relationships will help you recharge. Don't let the toxic relationships overwhelm you though. That would definitely not recharge you.

5. Get enough sleep

This might seem like a stupid thing because we know we're all supposed to be getting enough sleep. With so many days off and holidays the past couple of weeks I'm sure our sleep schedules are out of wack. It can really wear us down without us realizing it. Getting that restful sleep is key to recharging.

6. Keep a positive mindset

It's really easy to get into a funk. With depressing news stories and self deprecation being all over the place I'm not surprised that it's tough to be positive. Going into the new year with a positive mindset and with the goal of keeping that mindset all year it will really improve so many areas of your life. Instead of focusing on how things went wrong and setbacks focus on what you've accomplished and the progress you've made.
