I know that I told myself in January that I would share 10 good things each month but holy cow was February short! I feel like I had so many things to share that I didn't get the opportunity to share my 10 good things. Plus with it being a short month with bad weather I spent way more time inside holed up haha. How were your February and March? What good things happened?
1. Packing care packages at Phil's Friends
Our monthly Gamma Phi Beta in February was packing care packages at Phil's Friends. This is a non-profit that I've know of for a number of years, Dad knew Phil. It was started after Phil beat cancer he saw people who didn't have anyone going through chemo and wanted to do something. They send packages all over the United States.
2. Vintage Shop Hop
March kicked off with a big day of vintage shopping with Mom, Bethany and Rennae. The Vintage Shop Hop is a weekend where over 400 vintage and antique stores in northern Illinois and Wisconsin get together, offer deals and treats with their fabulous shopping experiences. This was the first time we all went to the hop and it was a lot of fun. I'm sure this will become a yearly thing.
3. Dinner with Danielle and Pam
Pam used to work with me at my museum but last summer her museum brought her back full time (when does that ever happen anywhere?!) and I go through Pam withdrawal. Me and all of the other people in our work lunch crew.
4. Started with a trainer
I decided that I was going to start one of my 101 in 1001 List items a little early. I want to really work on improving my weight, body and overall physical health, which is why I put on there invest in myself. Usually I am so cheap and don't do anything that costs too much money. Sometimes you just need to spend that money to be your best self because you need that help. I definitely need that help! So I signed up for a monthly amount of training sessions. So far I'm still alive so that's a good thing haha.
5. Pub Crawl for Eric's birthday
Kevin's brother Eric celebrated his 30th birthday last month. His wife decided that we'd all go on a pub crawl in Wicker Park. It was a lot of fun and Stephanie ended up crashing the party which definitely added to the fun. I've never been on a crawl in Wicker Park but it was nice, not such a huge one that every single bar was jam packed and you couldn't get to the bar.
6. Texas trip
Kevin and took our first trip of the year with my side of the family to Texas. It was all seven of us, Kevin, me, Mom, Lou, Bethany and the kids! There was a lot of driving, we started in Dallas and ended up in Houston. The weather was so amazing though, it's been rough being back in Chicago weather! I'm going to try and have more posts about the trip so I don't want to share all the fun in this post.
7. New Pampered Chef products
Every year March brings with it the new Pampered Chef spring products! This season there were some huge changes. The cookware lines were completely updated, and my new favorite cookware piece the Stainless Steel Nonstick Skillet. Even though the cookware is amazing I'm pretty sure my new favorite and soon to be most used is the Quicksicle Maker. I brought the ingredients and made the Nutella Quicksicles as part of dessert for Easter. Everyone was very impressed and ready for another.
8. Escape room
I finally caught up with the rest of the world and went to an escape room! It was our March Gamma Phi Beta event. Unfortunately because of spring break there weren't as many ladies as usual but we decided it might have been crazier with more of us. We started off well (probably because it was easier at the beginning!) but then things got really confusing. We thought at the end that we weren't that far from the end but after our guide walked us through what was left we had a long way to go! I'm definitely ready to go back and conquer that room. Maybe I can convince Kevin ...
9. A Taste of Things to Come with Mom
Mom and I have loved going to the theater together for years and years. Most of the time I'm joining her at Drury Lane but I had seen this Broadway in Chicago play and really wanted to see it. We enjoyed a great brunch at Francesca's on Chestnut before the show. The show starts off in 1957 these four Winnetka, IL housewives meet every Wednesday for cooking, gossip and sorting through crazy issues that life brings. The second act fast forwards 10 years to 1967 where so much in the world and their lives has changed.
10. Easter with the family
I love that lately we've been able to combine both Kevin's parents and my family for holidays. It definitely makes things much easier on the two of us. Kevin's parents joined everyone at Lou & Bethany's house for brunch/lunch on Easter. It was great fun. We hid the eggs for Lane and Elowen. Lane sort of shared the eggs with her. That's been interesting lately. There was delicious food and lots of laughs. A wonderful holiday.
