My goal with gift giving is to always find something I know the person will love and love to use. This is my mantra for every gift giving holiday but especially for Christmas. I've always found that gifting for my fellow history buffs is a crazy task in itself. This year I've pulled together a list of 8 great gift ideas that the history lover in your life will ... love!
Photo Field Museum Website
Scroll Pearl Hoop Earrings - $475Ever since the Field Museum came out with their line of jewelry inspired by the architectural details of the museum I've been in love with them! These are definitely a budget buster of a gift but if you're going to get your history buff a nice piece of jewelry anyways why not make it something neat like these?

Frank Lloyd Wright Roberts House Trivet - $22.95
I always try to work in my interests and things I love in subtle ways so they don't just glaringly stick out and are functional. This beautiful trivet is a perfect way to do that. It brings in the history and artistic beauty of Wright's designs in a very functional way.
Ancestry DNA - $99
This was something I asked for and got for Christmas a couple years ago. It was a fantastic gift that will really keep on giving as I work more on our family genealogy. Be sure to sign up for their email list because there are usually some great deals and coupons for the DNA kits.
Photo from the Smithsonian website
Your history buff will appreciate this beautiful 18k gold toned with faceted Swarovski® crystal orbs necklace and you'll love the price. This one is definitely not quite as budget busting as the Scroll Pearl Hoop Earrings but just as beautiful
The Devil in the White City
Any history nerd will appreciate a book gift. As someone who is passionate about her city I would highly recommend The Devil in the White City. Be sure to figure out what time period or subject your history nerd loves so you can get them the perfect book for them.
A History of the World in 100 Objects
If you're unable to figure out what their favorite time period or subject is this book is a wonderful option.
National Geographic Classics: Mysteries of the Past DVD Collection - $24.95
There are so many awesome documentaries and shows related to history out there. National Geographic has some awesome choices. Mysteries of the Past stuck out as one I would definitely add to my collection. Other places to check out History Channel for other awesome history related DVDs.
Membership to your favorite Museum - Varies by museum
This is my favorite item off my list. Your history buff or museum fanatic has that title for a reason, why not get them the gift that keeps on giving? Plus if you become a member for smaller museums in your area you'll be supporting a great cause.
These are just a few ideas for the history nerd in your life. There are so many other wonderful gifts that they would love. Check out museum online and in person gift shops, and other retailers for some wonderful ideas. What would you get the history nerd in your life?
