Lately I feel like new exciting events and places have been popping up all over Chicago. Literally popping up. There have been so many different pop ups happening, like the Saved by the Max pop up, it'a bananas. Last week I found out that there was going to be a pop up Field Museum bar at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel starting February 25.
Obviously as soon as I heard about it I told Kevin we were going and he was totally game. Aptly named the Backroom this pop up bar will be in the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel Friday and Saturday evenings now until March 25th. So there isn't much time to check it out!
Set up to look like a scientist's office from the 70s you're immersed in the world right away. When you walk back you're greeted by a giant turkey!
While the set up was fantastic there were tons of people which made it slightly difficult to get up close and personal with the cool artifacts. We were able to get close to some and definitely made friends with the turkey.
Of course Kevin found the fish!
I enjoyed a delicious sparkling wine and Kevin got one of the signature mixed drinks. It was very gingery so he definitely loved it. I was hoping they'd be more kooky Field related but reading some of the articles it sounds like those types of drinks might show up at a later date!
The night we went was the opening night so there weren't any special programs but they definitely have some fun things planned for the next month. Check out the list below for what's happening each evening. I think the dig your own dino and assemble your own fish skeleton sound the most fun.
