Britta was awesome enough during out Architectural Artifacts day to help me out with my 101 list by taking me to Honey Butter Fried Chicken for dinner. I and the rest of Chicago had been hearing about the amazing chicken here since it opened. The line we waited in to order was definitely promising and moved quickly!
The decor was fun and light hearted. The patio was big and shady. Perfect for multiple summer meals. Britta and I decided to split a four piece order and two sides. Each order of chicken comes with Honey Butter and corn muffins. They also have sandwiches and salads, all with fried chicken of course! On Tuesdays they have special Fried Chicken Tacos, which makes me want to figure out a reason to be in the city on a Tuesday!
We ended up getting the Creamed Corn and the Pimento Mac 'N Cheese. For the two of us the amount of food ended up being perfect. Since I'm a mac and cheese junkie I was really excited to try it and was slightly disappointed. The flavors were really good but it wasn't as creamy as I was hoping for. The Creamed Corn was delicious. I probably would have licked the bowl if we weren't out in public. Britta and I said next time we need to try out the Kale & Cabbage Slaw, everyone who got it had looks of bliss.
The Corn Muffins, Chicken and Honey Butter are really the stars of the meal though. If Britta hadn't taken her muffin right away, she might not have gotten any! Moving on to the main event! Honey Butter Chicken takes it's name from the delightful homemade Honey Butter but the fact that you're meant to spread some of said butter onto the hot from the fryer chicken. When it melts into the pieces as you tear into it the flavors are amazing. Needless to say as soon as I spread the butter and took my first bite there wasn't much time for more photos!
