Chicago in the Spring

Spring has FINALLY hit the Chicago area! It only took an extra two months. Spring is the start of so many exciting and fun things to do and see.

Baseball
No matter if you're a Northside fanatic or Southside die hard spring means the start of baseball season. Even though we're more of Cubs fans last season we got an awesome chance (thanks to Kevin's company) to take in a game at the Cell in a box. It was pretty fabulous. A great way to take in the Cubs is to get rooftop seats.

Festival Season
Most of the festivals are in the summer but there are always some awesome ones that start up in the spring, including at least half a dozen Mayfest festivals and an exciting new one, New Orleans festival.  How can you go wrong when the weather turns nice and you're out enjoying a (hopefully) good band and a cool drink?

Farmer's Markets
This is probably my favorite thing to do when spring hits. The past few years great farmer's markets have popped up all over Chicago and the suburbs. For a year round fix the Chicago French Market is awesome, they don't just have veggies and stuff like that there are a number of eateries as well. Check out this webpage for a pretty comprehensive list of Illinois farmer's markets.

Judy Istock Butterfly Haven
Part of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum right in the middle of Lincoln Park this beautiful prairie and garden exhibit features thousands of amazing butterflies. When my friend Lauren and I went to the Peggy in the fall we were able to go through the prairie but none of the butterflies were there anymore. I'm looking forward to going again when I can actually see them!

I don't know about anyone else but I'm super excited for the warm weather and the chance to do some awesome Chicago spring things!

  1. I am so excited to finally be able to leave my house without so many layers! I already have my calendar marked for all the festivals :)
